Galway’s Liam Nolan will be hoping that history repeats itself when he tees it up at Dundonald Golf Links in Scotland next Tuesday for the final 36-hole qualifying event for the Open Championship in Royal Portrush. Nolan was one of four golfers to book their place in last year’s Open from the same venue, and he will tee off at twenty to eight in his opening round before playing round 2 in the afternoon. He won’t be the only Galway golfer looking to qualify for the year’s final major, as Ronan Mullarney will join former Masters champion Danny Willett in trying to qualify from West Lancashire next week. 72 golfers will compete for 5 places in the Open Championship at both venues.
Final Qualifying for The 153rd Open will take place on Tuesday, 1st July at Burnham & Berrow, Dundonald Links, Royal Cinque Ports and West Lancashire. Here, 72 players will have the opportunity in each venue to earn their place at Royal Portrush. This follows Regional Qualifying, which took place on June 23rd at 15 different venues across the UK and Ireland.
