The Irish National Road Cycling Championships are being hosted this weekend by Cunga Cycling Club in Cong. This annual blue-ribbon event of the Irish Cycling calendar is run to determine who becomes Ireland's National Champion in road cycling. This is the most prestigious domestic road-cycling title in the country and the winner get to wear the Irish National Jersey for the next year, both at home and on the international stage. The races take place this Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th and is based in Cong village, with the riders racing on roads around beautiful Connemara. This will be a spectacular event bringing many people to Cong and the Connemara area to watch the crème de la crème of Irish cycling, from both professional and amateur ranks, competing on some of the best cycling roads in the world. Why not come out and watch this great cycling spectacle and cheer on our national heroes! Delays are expected in the areas of Cong, Clonbur, Cloughbrack, Corr na Móna, Finny and Maum. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding, we will have marshals at all junctions to ensure the least amount of disruption. Race HQ for Saturday and Sunday will be at Cong Community Centre, with the finish just past McGrath’s Limestone on the R345 outside Cong.

Saturday 27th - Junior Mens race will start at 9.30am, Senior Womens race will start at 2pm
Sunday 28th - Junior Women race start 9.30am, Senior Men race start 12pm
