The 100th Annual Connemara Pony Show returns to Clifden from Tuesday 19th to Friday 22nd August, marking a truly historic milestone in the celebration of heritage and horsemanship. For a century, this world-famous gathering has drawn breeders, riders, and visitors from all over the globe, united by their admiration for the beauty, versatility, and gentle temperament of the Connemara Pony.
This special anniversary year promises to be bigger and better than ever, with events taking place right across Clifden. The whole town will come alive, as locals and visitors join together to honour a proud tradition of the region.
At the heart of the celebrations is the world’s largest showcase of Connemara Ponies, where visitors can see this renowned breed at its very best — from in-hand classes to ridden competitions, all judged to the highest standards. Alongside the equestrian events, there will be a full programme of family-friendly entertainment, including a domestic arts showcase, lively dog show, children’s activities, and the always-popular Best Dressed Competitions, adding a touch of glamour to the showgrounds.

Wednesday will be a highlight, as Galway Talks will broadcast live from the Clifden Showgrounds with John Morley on air from 12 to 3 pm. We’ll be capturing the vibrant sights and sounds, meeting competitors and visitors, and sharing the unique atmosphere of this extraordinary celebration with listeners everywhere.
