Galway Gears Up for Men’s Health Week 2025: Shoulder-to-Shoulder – Connecting for Health
From Monday, June 9th to Sunday, June 15th, communities across Ireland will unite to celebrate Men’s Health Week 2025 — a vital campaign dedicated to raising awareness, sparking conversation, and inspiring positive action around men’s health and wellbeing.
Kicking off the week-long initiative, Ronan Lardner on The Live Wire will broadcast live from T O’Higgins in Shantalla, Galway on Monday 12 to 3pm. Ronan will get the week rolling with plenty of chat, community spirit, and a strong focus on this year’s theme: “Shoulder-to-Shoulder – Connecting for Health. Drop in to the Men's Health Fair which offers free Health Checks with Croí, Information Stands, Spot Prizes, Raffle and Refreshments and join us on air from 12 live from T O’Higgins Ltd, Shantalla.
From Monday, June 9th to Sunday, June 15th, communities across Ireland will come together to mark Men’s Health Week 2025, a vital initiative aimed at raising awareness, encouraging conversations, and promoting positive action around men’s health and wellbeing.
This year’s theme, “Shoulder-to-Shoulder – Connecting for Health,” highlights the importance of community and connection in supporting men’s wellbeing. Across Galway City and County, a diverse programme of events will offer men the chance to engage, learn, and take proactive steps toward better health.
The key aims of the week are to:
- Heighten awareness of preventable health problems affecting males of all ages.
- Support men and boys in making healthier lifestyle choices and engaging in health-promoting activities.
- Encourage early detection and treatment of health issues by promoting timely access to healthcare services

These events are open to all and offer a welcoming space to explore physical and mental health topics, access resources, and connect with local services. A range of events and activities will take place throughout the week, offering men of all ages the opportunity to learn more about their health, access resources, and take proactive steps toward a healthier lifestyle. From health checks and fitness sessions to mental health workshops and community talks, there’s something for everyone.
The week is supported by the Men’s Health Forum in Ireland (MHFI), in collaboration with Healthy Ireland HSC, Healthy Ireland local government for Galway, Roscommon and Mayo and a range of local community agencies invested in men’s health.
