IRFU Charitable Trust 2025 Connacht Charity Golf Outing: This Thursday, 12–3pm, Ronan Lardner will broadcast The Live Wire live from Galway Bay Golf Resort as part of the IRFU Charitable Trust 2025 Connacht Charity Golf Outing.
It’s set to be a brilliant day of sport, fundraising, and fun — with our very own Galway Bay FM team swapping microphones for golf clubs! Keep an eye out for Ollie Turner, Mike Rafferty, Tommy Devane and co as they take on the stunning course in support of this incredible cause.
Book your four ball now to avoid disappointment; a four ball remains the same as last year at €800, by contacting Linda: [email protected].
We asked the IRFU Charitable Trust what it's all about and this is what they had to say:

After a fantastic first IRFU Charitable Trust Connacht Charity Golf Outing in July 2024, we are thrilled to confirm the Trust will be back in the west for our second Golf Outing on Thursday 11th September 2025; once again hosted at the stunning Galway Bay Golf. Thank you to our Golf Sponsor and Partner Pinergy for their ongoing commitment and generosity; and thank you to Galway Bay Golf Resort, and the Connacht Hospitality Group, for being our Course Partner for this great event.

Connacht Rugby were incredibly supportive during and at the first Charity Golf Outing in 2024 and have already offered further support for 2025. Hosted by the highly entertaining James Heaslip of DNG, Connacht Rugby Players Peter Dooley, Shane Jennings and Joe Joyce provided all in attendance at the post-golf entertainment with great insights in to Connacht Rugby as well as plenty of banter! Seriously injured player Tommie Kyne along with his wife Teresa were also with us and it was great to see the Connacht Rugby community once again rally to support not just Tommie, but all 36 seriously injured players across the four provinces of Ireland.
Thank you to everyone who took a golf team, donated prizes and turned up for the post-event which was superbly run by the wonderful people at Galway Bay Golf Resort. We hope to see all of you again in attendance in 2025 with many more new faces. Speaking of the rugby community, the support from Connacht Rugby Clubs was brilliant and we hope more Clubs will come on board for 2025.
We are also delighted that Galway Bay FM will be our Event Media Partner for 2025. The team at Galway Bay FM got massively behind the 2024 Charity Golf Outing highlighting the event to all their listeners and beyond through their multiple platforms. Special thanks to Shane Jennings for voicing our radio ad on Galway By FM (keep an ear out for it!). Thank you again to Galway Bay FM for coming on board for 2025 and thank you to the Trust’s National Media Partner DMG Media and in particular Business Plus for their support.
There were cracking scores with the winner Alrí Construction automatically qualifying for the inaugural IRFU Charitable Trust “Irish Rugby 150th Golf Cup” tournament which will take place Friday 6th June 2025 on The K Club’s Palmer North Championship course – only a few months before The K Club host the Irish Open! They will join the winning Teams from the other three Provincial Charity Golf Outings … there is nothing like a bit of interprovincial rivalry! Very special thanks as well to our Longest Drives sponsor Aerogen who also took a team, as well as Intersport Elverys who kindly sponsored the second team prize, and took a team. Big thanks as well to to Coca-Cola HBC Ireland, for sponsoring the drinks reception along with Galway Hooker Brewery.
For 2025 we will be limited to 25 teams of four golfers per team hence please book early to ensure your spot. The format is a Shotgun Scramble starting at 12midday with breakfast baps and tea/coffee served from 11am. There will be prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed teams, as well as for the longest drives (ladies and men); and nearest the Pinergy (front nine and back nine).
Remember the winner from 2025 event will qualify and be invited to compete for the “Irish Rugby 150th Golf Cup” in 2026 to be held in Munster. Special guests will be announced closer to the date and we will once again have the very popular Raffle with great prizes were won, as well as another Silent Auction with exclusive and unique Lots going to the highest bidders. Tee sponsorship is also available for anyone who would like to get their brand/company name out there: one tee sign will cost €100 or three tee signs for €200.
Remember all funds raised go towards helping the 36 seriously injured rugby players and their families hence all support is greatly, greatly appreciated. Thank you to those who have already committed to taking a team and committing sponsorship including Intersport Elverys and Coca-Cola HBC Ireland; as well as our volunteers including brother’s Dermot and Gordon Fahy along with Yvonne Comer, Padraig Moran and Paul Casserly.
