Join Ronan Lardner on The Live Wire this Friday as he broadcasts live from 12 until 3 from Concannon's Daybreak, Ahascragh, Ballinasloe as they celebrate 70 years in business.
They are a family run business who are celebrating 70 years trading in Ahascragh.
The business was originally set up by Joe and Rita Concannon in 1955. The original premises
was in the family home which is located beside the current filling station store.
Padraic (Joe and Rita’s son) and Catherina (his wife) took over in 1985 and continued to bring the
business forward. During this time, the opportunity came up to purchase the filling station next
door which they took over in 2015.
Padraic’s older son Colin, finished college and had been helping out part time. He became more
involved and now along with his wife, Marcy has taken over more of the day to day running of the
store.
Over the last 12 months the store has been revamped with Musgrave’s support in the new
Daybreak spec. This includes the Munch and Co deli, Lickety split ice cream, 9 Grams coffee
dock and a new off licence.
They’ll be marking the occasion on July 4th with a cake cutting, face painting for kids along with
free tea and coffee for all of our local customers. We will also be holding a raffle with some
amazing prizes which include five €70 shop vouchers to spend in store as well as Top Oil fuel
vouchers, and some kindly sponsored hampers and gifts from our suppliers.
