This week on Bay Business, Breda Fox speaks to Raj Lyons Chohan.
Raj Lyons Chohan is a Ballinasloe-born entrepreneur whose career journey — from over fifteen years in the automotive motor trade to the cutting edge of AI and digital identity technology — is one of the most compelling business stories to emerge from the West of Ireland in recent years.
The turning point came when Raj attended an Enterprise Week workshop run by the Local Enterprise Office in Galway — a moment he credits as the catalyst that redirected his entire career.
That decision led to the founding of AffinityEV, an EV charging management and installation platform backed by Enterprise Ireland, which went on to secure a landmark €40 million contract with US firm Qmerit — one of the largest deals of its kind for an indigenous Irish tech company at the time.
In September 2025, AffinityEV was acquired by UK-based Jumptech, a technology partner since 2020, marking a significant and well-earned exit for Raj and his team.
True to form, Raj wasted no time moving on to his next challenge. He is now Co-Founder of ICØN — an AI-powered digital identity platform designed to protect verified identity and intellectual property in the age of artificial intelligence — continuing to build from Galway.
