This week on Next Gen Galway, we catch up with former RTÉ Racing Commentaor Tracy Piggott ahead of her charity swim in Galway Bay.

Tracy Piggott is set to undertake an 14km underwater endurance sea-swim from Co Clare into Galway Bay

The swim takes place on July 28 to coincide with the Galway Races and aims to fund raise for the charity Sensational Kids.

Tracy Piggott previously completed the same challenge in 1998 to raise funds for the John Durkan Leukaemia Trust.

Sensational Kids is a national charity and not-for-profit social enterprise in Ireland committed to transforming the lives of children with additional needs. Their vision is simple: to make high-quality therapy services accessible and affordable for every child, regardless of circumstance.

Tracy Piggott has been involved with the charity for years and says; “I’m just blown away by the work they do and the therapy they give to so many kids,” she said. “Some of them have been on public waiting lists for six or seven years and their families feel so helpless.”

With the proceeds of the swim, Sensational Kids is hoping to set up a dedicated hippotherapy facility, a form of equine therapy for children with complicated needs.
