To celebrate their 150th anniversary, Ballinasloe Rugby Club began their year-long celebrations on Thursday (2nd October) with the launch of their new book '150 Years of Ballinasloe Rugby.'
Written by former player, coach and current committee member and Welfare Officer Declan Quinn, the book chronicles the history of rugby in the town going back to its formation in 1875.
Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly headed out to the club grounds in Graigueawoneen for the book launch and caught up with the author Declan Quinn.
Darren then met up with Ballinasloe Rugby Club President Gerry Kelly.
Former Ireland international Noel Mannion is the club's Honorary Director of Rugby and acted as MC for the event. He shared his thoughts with Darren.
And finally, following the remarkable growth of women's rugby in Ballinasloe since that started in 2013, and featuring three Irish players on the recent World Cup squad (Beibhinn Parsons, Aoibheann Reilly and Méabh Deely), Evelyn Parsons (Beibhinn's mother) sat down with Darren to talk about the difference that has made to the club.
'150 Years of Ballinasloe Rugby' is available in Salmon's Department Store, Ballinasloe, or at ShopBallinasloe.ie.
