2026 Irish Speed Golf Open Returns To Castlebar Golf Club

The Irish Speed Golf Open will return to Castlebar Golf Club on Saturday, 20 June 2026, bringing one of the most innovative and exciting formats in world golf back to the West of Ireland.

Following the success of the 2025 event, which attracted competitors from across Europe, North America, Oceania and Africa, organisers are preparing for an even bigger gathering of golfers, runners and sports enthusiasts at one of Ireland’s most scenic golfing venues.

The Irish Speed Golf Open combines golf and endurance running in a unique test of athleticism, strategy and skill. Players complete the course carrying a reduced number of clubs while racing against the clock. The competition uses a revolutionary time-adjusted scoring format developed in Ireland that finally achieves the original vision of Speed Golf: a genuine race against time where golfing skill is embedded directly into the result. Fast running alone cannot win, and neither can great golf played slowly; success comes from mastering both disciplines.

The event is open to experienced speedgolf competitors, golfers seeking a new challenge and runners looking to test themselves in an entirely different sporting environment. International competitors are once again expected to travel to Mayo to compete alongside Irish participants.

Rob Hogan, event organiser and two-time World Speed Golf Champion, said:

“After the incredible atmosphere and international interest generated by last year's event, we're delighted to bring the Irish Speed Golf Open back to Castlebar and are glad to return to one of Mayo's finest golf courses. Speedgolf continues to evolve and attract athletes from a wide range of sporting backgrounds. Castlebar Golf Club has become a fantastic home for the event and we look forward to welcoming competitors and spectators from Ireland and around the world, including Australia, America, Finland and England, to name just a few, for another memorable day of sport.”

The 2026 edition will continue to build on the innovative format introduced in recent years, creating a more accessible and competitive experience for both golfers and runners while preserving the spirit and excitement that has defined speedgolf since its beginnings.
