Saturday will be a very special day for Connacht Rugby as the new Clan Stand opens in the €40m redeveloped stadium ahead of their BKT United Rugby Championship home fixture against Leinster.
This will allow a capacity of 12,500 for the visit of the reigning champions. Stuart Lancaster's team are currently in 12th place on 16 points, three behind eighth placed Benetton but they do have a game in hand.
Connacht have lost their last three URC fixtures, including 52-17 to Leinster three weeks ago. Indeed, they went down to the eastern province in their previous 12 meetings. Connacht's last win was in the RDS in January 2021.
Their last home victory over Leinster was back in April 2018 when Connacht ran in seven tries in a 47-10 victory thanks to Niyi Adeolokun (2), Kieran Marmion (2), Tiernan O'Halloran, Bundee Aki and John Muldoon.
Leading up to the game, Galway Bay FM's William Davies asked captain Cian Prendergast how they handled balancing the importance of the match with the occasion.
William asked Connacht prop Denis Buckley if he has been telling the younger and new players what the old dressing rooms used to be like.
Finally, head coach Stuart Lancaster shared his thoughts. William asked him what did he learn from following up their last easy victory in Europe against Black Lion, after they ran out comfortable victors against Montauban last week.
Kick-off at Dexcom Stadium on Saturday is 5.30pm, and we'll have LIVE coverage here on Galway Bay FM.
