While many supporters marvel at the skills displayed by the 'Class of 92' or the recent Chinese World Champions when they come together at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, what many snooker fans mightn't realise is there is a vibrant snooker circuit in county Galway with opportunites to play competitive tournaments or just to enjoy a few social frames.
Recently, Donal Foran, the 'Athenry Assassin,' was crowned County Galway champion for the seventh time, overcoming Ballinasloe's Paul Keighery to successfully retain his title. Both players have given so much into the promotion and coaching in the game.
Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly called out to Ballinasloe Snooker Club this week to chat to both Donal and Paul, and started by congratulating Donal on his county championship success.
In the Ger McGrath Memorial Final played on Friday evening (5th June), Donal Foran was a 2-0 winner over Max Kennedy.
