Galway Manager looks forward to Leinster Senior Hurling Final

Galway and Dublin will meet this Saturday evening at 6pm in Croke Park in this year's Leinster Senior Hurling Final. The curtain raiser is the Joe McDonagh Cup final between Carlow and Laois at 3.45pm. Galway and Dublin met in Round 4 of the Leinster SHC round robin series on May 16th when Brian Hayes struck a sensational match-winning goal for the Dubs in the fifth minute of injury-time in Pearse Stadium. Since Galway joined the Leinster Championship in 2009, they have won the provincial title three times (2012, 2017, 2018), with Dublin winning one (2013) in that same period. Galway have also lost 8 Leinster finals, seven of them to Kilkenny, with Dublin losing 5 provincial finals to the same opposition. So, it is a rare occasion to see two teams running out for a Leinster Senior Hurling Final with Kilkenny not involved, something that has only happened twice in the last 30 years (2013 and 2017). Saturday evening will be the 14th meeting of Galway and Dublin the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship and their fifth in Croke Park. The head-to-head record between the counties sees Galway with 5 wins, Dublin with 6 wins, and 2 draws.

Ahead of the Leinster Final, Galway manager Micheal Donoghue has been telling Sean Walsh that it was their goal at the start of the year to make the provincial decider...
