Two members of the Galway Tribes Rugby League Team are in the Irish Women's Rugby League squad who are making their way to Canada this month to compete in the IRL Women's World Series.
Stacy Hanley and Aifric Ní Ghibne will be hoping Ireland can secure a first-ever World Cup berth by winning the series. Ireland will first take on Nigeria in the semi-finals at Terry Fox Stadium, Brampton, on October 21. The winner will then face Canada or Fiji for a place in the 2026 Women's Rugby League World Cup in Australia.
A third Galway Tribes Player, Holly O’Dwyer, was named on the extended squad.
The team are trying to raise money to cover the costs of going to Canada and have set up a GoFundMe, which will be directly attributed towards the campaign.
