It's a unique pairing in championship football in this year's TG4 All-Ireland senior ladies football semi-final as Galway and Armagh come together this Saturday (18th July 2026) with a place in Croke Park two weeks later the prize on offer.
While they've frequently clashed in the league, and are both regular contenders at the business end of the season, this is the first time they've crossed paths in summer warfare since the same stage 20 years previously (2006).
A Barbara Hannon winner was disallowed, despite video evidence suggesting it was a score. Armagh went up the field to get the decisive score, beating Galway (1-13 to 1-12) to book their one final appearance so far.
Galway beat Mayo 2-20 to 1-6 in their quarter-final; while Armagh were 3-9 to 1-12 victors against Kildare.
