Over The Line (Hurling Championship Draw Special - Monday, 22nd June 2026)

Loughrea will begin their quest for three Forvis Mazars Senior Hurling Championships against Tommy Larkins when the 2026 competition gets underway on the weekend ending 9th August.

The draw took place at the Lough Rea Hotel & Spa on Monday evening (22nd June) that saw both teams go into Group 1 with Moycullen and Gort (the full draw is posted below).

Other eye-catching opening round fixtures will see Cappataggle and Liam Mellows meet again for the first time since their semi-final clashes a decade ago, while 2024 All-Ireland champions St. Thomas' must come through Oranmore-Maree.

Intermediate champions Meelick-Eyrecourt go up against neighbours Portumna in the Steeltech Sheds Premier Intermediate championship.  And three-in-a-row Junior 1 winners Ballinaslo have a Round 1 bye in the new Premier Junior competition that features groups of five.

Galway Bay FM's Sean Walsh and Niall Canavan presented the draw from the Lough Rea Hotel & Spa; while in studio, George McDonagh and Darren Kelly were joined by Ollie Neary to look back on the weekend's action in the senior football and hurling championships, and the World Cup.
