St Joseph's James Morahan Nominated For FAI Schools’ International Footballer Of The Year

Bish student James Morahan has been named as one of the nominations for the FAI's Schools International Footballer of the Year award that will be announced in September.

The St. Joseph’s Patrician College, student lined out for Ireland for a second consecutive season and captained the Under 18 Boys’ Republic of Ireland Schools in their Centenary Shield campaign this season, playing the full 90 minutes throughout the trio of games.

If successful James will be the second student in the Bish to receive such plaudits as Colin Hawkins won the award in 1995.

He would also be the first Galway student to win the award since 2014 when Ryan Manning in 2014.

The Schools International category for boys has been in existence since 1990 with a long list of star-studded winners.

While the girl’s category was just introduced in 2019, demonstrating the surge for more recognition of the female game.

The 36th FAI International Football Award winners will be announced in September.
