Galway Indoors

The Galway County Indoor Track and Field Championships take place in TUS Athlone Indoor Arena on the weekend of 17th/18th January next, with competitions for Juveniles and Adults. The U12-19 programme will be held on Saturday next from 10 am, whilst the U9 to U12 age groups will compete on Sunday, Jan 18th The Adult programme will take place on Sunday, 18th, in the afternoon between 3-4.30 pm, and includes a 60m, 400m, 800m, 3km, as well as Long and High Jumps and Shot Putt.

PB for Penney

Galway Sports Star of the Year Conor Penney of Craughwell AC kicked off his indoor season with a super series of leaps at an Indoor High Jump Meet in Nantes in France, to smash his own indoor personal best by an incredible 6cm. Penney entered the competition at 1.90m and continued to clear throughout the competition, clearing all heights to 2.09m. He then attempted a best of 2.11m and soared high over the bar, and claimed a superb new club record.

National Track and Field League

Several Galway clubs will compete in the first National events of the Indoor Season, as the League kicks off with Round 1 on January 24th in the NIA in Abbottstown, Dublin; Round 2 will be held on February 8th in Athlone, with the final on February 14th in Dublin.
