Investigations are underway after a woman in her 70s and a man in his 30s died in a house fire in Connemara this morning.
Emergency services responded to reports of a fire at Gleann Mhic Mhuireann near Casla at 6:20AM.
The fire was quickly brought under control but crews discovered two bodies, believed to be the only occupants of the home.
The scene has been preserved for a technical examination, and both bodies have been brought to UHG for post-mortem examinations.
The results of the post mortems, along with the findings of the technical examination, will determine the course of the Garda investigation.
The local Coroner has been informed.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
