11 Galway estates taken in charge by council in 2017

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Eleven estates across Galway were taken in charge by Galway County Council last year.

'Taking in Charge' means the local authority assumes responsibility for the future maintenance of roads and footpaths, street lights and other services.

Irish Water also takes responsibility for the maintenance of the underground water network and sewerage services.

Deputy Sean Canney says a considerable number of housing estates across the county are currently being brought up to standard to be taken in charge this year.

Independent Deputy Canney says the Government has made funding available to ensure there are as little delays as possible.
