There has been an increase of almost 16% in the number of homes built in Galway last year.
This is according to the latest data from the Central Statistics office.
A total of 1478 dwellings were built last year, 235 more than 2024s figure.
The data from the CSO paints an interesting picture of where these new houses in Galway are being built.
Statistics from last year show that many regions outside of the city have seen a large increase in homes being built, with the Gort-Kinvara and Athenry-Oranmore municipal districts seeing an output of 263 and 228 respectively - the highest in the county.
There was also an increase in each of the three city wards, with a combined total of 415 new dwellings, an increase of 142.
The only areas in the county that saw a decrease were Tuam and Ballinasloe, with the latter seeing a halving of completed builds when compared with 2024.
Nationally, the data makes for good reading for Government - with 36,000 new homes built - an increase of 20.4% on the previous year.
Although numbers are trending in the right direction, the target of 41,000 set by Government in January of 2025 has once again been missed.
