Almost ten times more short-term lets than rental properties in Galway

Short-term lets outnumber rental homes in Galway city and county by almost ten to one.

Threshold figures show Galway has 1,105 short term lets, compared to just 116 private rentals - which means for every one rental property, there are 9.5 short term lets.

Threshold says nationally there are over 8,600 short-term lets on Airbnb compared to 2,100 homes available to rent this month.

Its National Advocacy Manager, Anne-Marie O'Reilly says it's an alarming ratio.
