Approval for major EV upgrades at city Bus Eireann depot

Approval has been given for major upgrades at the Bus Eireann depot in the city that are needed to accommodate a new electric vehicle fleet.

The works at the depot at Galway Harbour Enterprise Park will include 70 new charging points.

It follows recent reports that almost 50 electric buses were lying idle in Galway due to a lack of charging infrastructure.

City planners have cleared the way for the upgrades to proceed subject to 20 conditions.
