Call to trial exemption for short-term lets on Galway's offshore islands

Government is being asked to consider a pilot scheme that would give planning exemptions for short term lets on Galway's offshore islands.

Independent Councillor Thomas Welby says such accommodation can be hugely benefical to places like the Aran Islands.

Councillor Welby believes a "one size fits all" approach cannot work when it comes to regulating short term lets.

And he argues an exemption for the islands could also help guide policy for short-term lets on the mainland.
