Canadian Minister for Identity and Culture visits Galway city

The Canadian Minister for Identity and Culture, Marc Miller, has been visiting Galway city.

The visit formed part of a wider programme to strengthen cultural cooperation ahead of Canada-Ireland 180.

This 2027 initiative will celebrate the longstanding connections between both countries.

Minister Miller was accompanied by Denis King, Canadian Ambassador to Ireland, senior officials from the Department of Canadian Heritage, and John Concannon, Ireland's Ambassador to Canada.

The delegation was welcomed by Mayor of Galway Helen Ogbu, City Chief Executive Leonard Cleary and senior officials of Galway City Council along with County Cathaoirleach Andrew Reddington.

Discussions focused on Galway's role as a centre for artistic production, cultural innovation, multilingual creativity and international cultural exchange.
