Chaplain injured in stabbing at Renmore Barracks to be honoured along with three colleagues

The army chaplain injured in a stabbing at Renmore Barracks in 2024 is to be honoured by the Defence Forces along with three colleagues

Fr Paul Murphy was attacked by a teenager with a knife during an incident on the 15th August 2024, sustaining serious injuries

He will receive the Distinguished Service Medal with Merit from the Minister of Defence Helen McEntee at a ceremony next month

Three other members of the forces, Corporal Daniel Padden, Private Dylan Geraghty and Private Ciara Shanahan, will also be honoured for their brave actions during the incident in Renmore
