Clean-up begins of litter blackspot in Ballybane

A clean-up is underway today on a major litter blackspot in Ballybane.

For years, the area has been identified as a blackspot by national surveys, with persistent littering and long-term neglect.

An IBAL survey last month ranked it the second worst urban area in the country.

A contractor is working today to remove litter and overgrown shrubs at Ballybane neighbourhood Village.

Local Fianna Fail Councillor Alan Cheevers says this is a good start.
