Clifden RNLI rescue seven people from Omey Island

Clifden RNLI has rescued seven people who were cut off by the tide on Omey Island.

The volunteer crew launched the Atlantic 85 lifeboat yesterday, and all were brought safely back to shore and handed over to Cleggan Coast Guard.

Clifden RNLI - which is available for help 24/7 - is reminding people to check the tides before going out to Omey.

They say it is very easy to be caught out and get stranded on the island.
