Connemara native James Ó Flatharta, who has completed multiple degrees, has been presented with a Fulbright Award.
He's among 19 recipients announced by The Department of Foreign Affairs and the US Embassy in Dublin.
The programme selects outstanding candidates across disciplines ranging from health, technology, science and business to the arts, heritage and the Irish language.
For the past two years, James Ó Flatharta from An Cheathrú Rua, has taught Irish in Dublin City University with Fiontar & Scoil na Gaeilge.
He's looking forward to his year ahead working as a Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant teaching Irish at Villanova University, Pennsylvania.
