A contract will be awarded in the coming weeks for the fitout of the new home for Galway City Council at Crown Square.
The project has proved controversial, with a considerably negative public perception of the cost of the move, as well as the motivations.
But, several independent assessments have concluded it was value for money and the best option available to Galway City Council.
A meeting this week heard a preferred contractor for the fitout will be selected in the coming weeks.
All going well, it's expected some staff will be in place before the end of the year, with the full move completed in early 2027.
The topic was raised by Fine Gael Councillor Shane Forde - who told David Nevin it's vital there's value for money at every step.
