Councillor brands HSE regional meetings as 'a farce' after heated Portiuncula debate

The HSE Health Forum West meetings are 'a farce' and are 'not the best way of doing business'

That's according to Ballinasloe Fianna Fáil Councillor Michael Connolly, who says he agrees with the downgrade of maternity services in Portiuncula hospital.

During a heated debate at a recent council meeting, Independent Cllr Dr. Evelyn Parsons challenged his position, saying there were no recommendations from any reports to downgrade.

This comes amid an ongoing saga in which the HSE has given unclear answers on whether high risk maternity services at the Ballinasloe hospital will ever be restored.
