Councillors pass €9m budget for Tuam area

Local councillors have passed a €9m budget for the Tuam area in 2026.

The annual budget covers the running of the municipal district - like roadworks, social housing maintenance, public parks, litter management, recycling facilities and street parking.

Around two-thirds of the €9m will be spent on roads - though it's always been acknowledged annual roads funding falls very far short of what's needed.

The budget passed for Tuam is provisional, until all 39 councillors from all county districts approve an overall budget in the coming weeks.
