County Cathaoirleach Andrew Reddington has had a meeting with his Fine Gael party leader Simon Harris at Government Buildings.
The Tánaiste, along with senior Ministers, met with 13 Fine Gael Councillors who have recently been elected as the first citizen of their county.
Councillor Reddington was elected as Cathaoirleach last month.
Tánaiste Harris said he wanted to thank Andrew for the energy he is bringing to his new role, adding will be a strong voice for Galway.
