Galway County Council is investigating several significant cases of illegal dumping across the county.
The Environment Section of the local authority has been notified of cases across the Attymon, Oranmore, Ballinasloe, Tuam and Ballindereen areas.
The Council says the incidents 'bear the hallmarks of an unauthorised 'man in a van' type operator'.
Galway County Council is warning members of the public to be wary of 'bogus waste collectors' advertising for what may appear to be good value disposal services.
The local authority is advising people to ask all operators to see a copy of their waste collection permit as they are required to carry it with them.
It's also reminding people that it is a criminal offence to use the services of Bogus Waste Collectors to remove and dispose of waste.
The County Council is appealing to people to report any suspicious vehicles carrying waste in the Attymon, Oranmore, Ballinasloe, Tuam and Ballindereen areas.
