County Hall blow up over Bord Bia boss results in several councillors refusing to voice votes

A big blow-up at County Hall over a motion calling on Larry Murrin to resign from Bord Bia resulted in several councillors refusing to speak during the voting process.

The motion from Independent Ireland Cllr Shaun Cunniffe ultimately never went to a vote as a counter-motion was put forward by Fine Gael Councillor Jimmy McClearn.

The new motion called on Galway County Council to instead ask for a meeting with all stakeholders in the situation, and to call for dialogue on it and other CAP issues.

It also called for the current Bord Bia Farm Inspection regime to be examined.
