Druid theatre to withdraw major production from Galway 2020 programme

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway's Druid Theatre is to withdraw its major international production from the Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture programme.

According to the Irish Times, the theatre company had been forced to pull out due to the Galway 2020 project’s “loss of time, significant budget cuts and communication issues”.

The Druid production, entitled Middle Island, was inspired by Colm Tóibín’s novella and play, Testament, relating the story of Mary’s life after the death of her son, Jesus.

This week, Galway 2020 announced the appointment of Patricia Philbin as its new CEO.
