Half a million euro has been announced for sports programmes across Galway this year.
It's part of a national allocation worth almost €13m, which represents an increase of six per cent on last years figure.
In Galway, the €477 thousand will be administered through the Galway Local Sports Partnership.
The grants support various groups and clubs to buy equipment and improve or maintain facilities.
