Extra funding granted to development of sports facility in Ballybane

Galway Bay fm newsroom - An additional 40-thousand euro in funding has been granted to the development of a multi-purpose sports facility in Ballybane.

The funding granted by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport follows another grant of €40,000 from Galway City Council last year.

The development which is priced over 130-thousand euro will include a 4G astro pitch, a three-lane running track, a football cage and netting.

It will be located in a field adjacent to Bóthar Waithman and Sruthán Mhuirlinne in Ballybane.

Chairman of Merlin Neighbourhood's Association, Donal Lynch says it's great news for the community.
