Around ten thousand farmers and supporters have gathered in Athlone to protest against the EU-Mercosur trade agreement.
The demonstration is underway since 11am, with participants marching towards the Technological University of the Shannon's Midlands campus for a rally this afternoon.
Protesters are calling on Ireland to continue opposing the deal, despite it securing enough support from other EU states to move forward.
Oli Warner reports.
Local farmer Peter Keaveney is at the rally. He told John Mulligan that Irish farmers are 100% against this deal.
