File for DPP following cannabis seizure in Knocknacarra

Galway Bay fm newsroom - A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions after Gardaí seized €20,000 of suspected cannabis herb in the Knocknacarra area.

The drugs, which are subject to forensic analysis, were detected and seized following the search of a house shortly before 6.30pm last evening.

The search was led by members of the Galway Divisional Drugs Unit.

One man in his mid-30s was arrested at the scene and was detained at the North Western Regional Garda Headquarters in Galway under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

He has since been released without charge.

A file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
