Final approval has been given for a major multi-storey expansion of a city centre hotel.
The Victoria Hotel, located off Eyre Square, had sought permission to demolish an existing warehouse, restaurant and various other buildings to accommodate the plans.
Permission for this project in different forms was refused twice by city planners.
After the latest rejection early last year, developer Byrne Hotel Management Ltd took an appeal to An Coimisiún Pleanála.
The extension would not only add 91 bedrooms, but would bring the hotel up to 9 stories in height, complete with a bar and terrace at 8th floor level.
There were some local objections, including from An Taisce which argued the city centre is being "hollowed out" by hotels, hostels, restaurants, bars and cafes.
An Coimisiún Pleanála has now ruled the project can go ahead, with routine conditions attached.
