Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway Senator Trevor O' Clochartaigh has joined a new technical group in the Seanad.
Senator O' Clochartaigh announced his resignation from Sinn Fein last month, citing inaction on local disciplinary issues and concerns over the future of the party.
The newly Independent senator has now formed a technical group with four Labour senators, to ensure greater access to speaking time in the house.
Senator O Clochartaigh says the new coalition is a matter of convenience and does not indicate any political leaning towards the Labour party.
