The planned Clifden Regeneration Plan is generating fresh concerns about the future availability of parking spaces in the town.
While the general import of the plan, which has been approved by An Coimisiún Pleanála, is being welcomed, unease continues about parking
The Regeneration aims to reduce the number of cars and traffic in the town, and in the process, 58 on-street parking spaces are to be taken away.
There is a general policy of providing space elsewhere, but no location has been named.
Now the Connemara Chamber of Commerce wants to get down to the issue, and they have made a further request for a meeting with County Council senior management.
The present public car park at the eastern verge of the town could be a good option, but a lot more space is needed.
It is understood that the Chamber of Commerce has previously put the idea of a two-story, or multi-story car park at that location to Galway County Council.
