Funding is being sought for the next phase of the Claregalway village flood relief scheme

Independent Oranmore/Athenry Councillor Tomás Grealish has written to Minister of State, Sean Canney, seeking the money.

Flooding on the N83 in the village has been a serious road safety issue for many years.

Phase 1 involved the creation of a pond to store and filter rainwater drained from the road, with works for phase 2 due to begin by the end of this year if funding is granted.

Councillor Grealish says the next phase will greatly improve road safety in the area.
