Agricultural shows around the county are to benefit from funding of over €140,000 following the announcement by Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary TD.
The Minister made the announcement as he launched the 2026 Yearbook for the Irish Shows Association at an event in Athlone.
In total, over €1 million of investment will be made to Agricultural shows nationwide, with €140,100 of that going to the 19 Agricultural Shows in Galway.
As part of the initiative, each show in Galway will receive a grant of between €5,900 and €10,000, depending on its size.
This funding will support the work of each of the show committees as they prepare for the upcoming show season that begins in Galway with the Athenry Agricultural Show on the 24th of May and finishes with the Glenamaddy District Ploughing & Agricultural Show on the 4th of October.
