Galway allocated 8 million euro to date under Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant

Over 150 vacant or derelict properties brought back into use in Galway City and County through Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant.

The scheme offers homeowners up to €70,000 to refurbish a vacant property, with an additional top-up of €20,000.

Since the Scheme launched in 2022, Galway City and County received 814 applications,with 157 grants issued on completion of the works representing payments of more than €8.4 million.

Nationally, the rate of grant payments in 2025 more than doubled compared to 2024.

3,066 grants were paid out with 35 of them issued on completion of works in Galway, with a total value of €1.9 million.

Galway East TD, Minister Sean Canney says these figures provide a clear picture of how this grant is progressing at both national and local level
