The number of housing commencement notices in Galway city is at its lowest level in a decade.
In the year to the end of November, just 24 commencement notices had been lodged in the city - that's compared to 1,152 by the end of 2024.
The county is fairing slightly better this year, but still down from previous years - 546 commencement notices were received - compared to 1,520 by the end of last year.
The Department of Housing figures show the most units commenced so far this year have been in Dublin City, with over two thousand.
