Galway city native Anne O'Connor has been appointed as the new CEO of the HSE.
Anne is the current Managing Director of Vhi Health & Wellbeing but prior to that served as Chief Operations Officer for the HSE through the COVID pandemic.
The Newcastle native is expected to take up the top job in the HSE in the Spring, after Bernard Gloster revealed this year he would be stepping down.
Anne O'Connoe is an occupational therapist by training and holds a Masters of Science in occupational therapy and management practice.
