Galway County Council insists it didn't drop the ball with Kinvara's Dunguaire Castle

Galway County Council has insisted it didn't drop the ball with Dunguaire Castle in Kinvara.

Independent Councillor Geraldine Donohue brought the issue up at a recent County Council meeting, saying Kinvara is 'getting a raw deal'.

The castle has been closed to the public for several years and it's estimated that 5 million euro is needed for its upgrade to re-open as an amenity.

CEO Liam Conneally assured councillors this week that a huge amount of work is going in behind the scenes to get it back open.
