Galway filmmaker brings 'The Pub That Refused to Die' to life on screen

Award-winning Galway filmmaker Gar O'Rourke has brought the story of locals coming together to save their village pub to life in a new documentary.

The Pub That Refused To Die, premiered at the Dublin International Film Festival, and captures the true story of a Limerick village’s fight to save its last pub.

Figures from the Drinks Industry Group of Ireland recently found that almost a quarter of Galway’s pubs have closed in the past two decades

Directed by Gar O’Rourke, and commissioned by Heineken, it tells the story of how 26 residents of Kilteely came together to save their last pub.
